Bölüm 26

Heaviness is the Root of Lightness

重为轻根,静为躁君。
是以圣人终日行不离辎重。虽有荣观,燕处超然。
奈何万乘之主,而以身轻天下?轻则失本,躁则失君。
Heaviness is the root of lightness; stillness is the master of restlessness. Therefore the sage travels all day without leaving the heavy cart. Though surrounded by splendid sights, he dwells in peaceful detachment. How can a lord of ten thousand chariots act lightly with his own body? Lightness loses the root; restlessness loses mastery.

Bu bölüm ne hakkında?

This chapter contrasts heaviness (stability, rootedness) with lightness (frivolity, instability), and stillness (calm mastery) with restlessness (agitation). It warns leaders—and all of us—against losing our center by chasing distractions or acting impulsively.

Bunun benimle ne ilgisi var?

In my life, I often get caught up in hurry and noise, forgetting the weight of my own center. This chapter reminds me that true power comes from stillness and groundedness, not from constant motion or external validation.

Bugün ne yapmalıyım?

Today, before reacting to any stress or excitement, I will pause, take three deep breaths, and ask myself: 'Am I acting from stillness or from restlessness?' I will choose one action that reflects my rootedness.
