Bölüm 79

Pacifying Great Resentment

和大怨,必有余怨,安可以为善?
是以圣人执左契而不责于人。有德司契,无德司彻。
天道无亲,常与善人。
When great resentment is reconciled, there must be lingering resentment. How can this be considered good? Therefore the sage holds the left tally but does not blame others. The virtuous attend to the tally; the virtueless attend to exacting payment. The Way of Heaven has no favorites; it always sides with the good person.

Bu bölüm ne hakkında?

This chapter warns that even after resolving major conflicts, residual bitterness remains, making it impossible to achieve perfect harmony. The sage, like a creditor holding a contract, does not demand repayment, embodying forgiveness. Heaven's impartiality rewards those who act with genuine goodness, not those who cling to grievances or enforce strict justice.

Bunun benimle ne ilgisi var?

It reminds me that holding onto past wrongs, even after an apology, leaves a residue that poisons my peace. I learn to let go completely, not just outwardly but inwardly, trusting that true goodness lies in releasing the need to be right or to collect emotional debts.

Bugün ne yapmalıyım?

Today, I will consciously release one small grudge I've been holding, forgiving the person fully in my heart without expecting anything in return, and notice the lightness that follows.
