The great Tao flows everywhere, to the left and to the right. All things depend on it for life, and it does not refuse them. When its work is accomplished, it does not claim possession. It clothes and nourishes all things but does not lord over them. Ever desireless, it may be called small; yet all things return to it without being its master, so it may be called great. Because it never considers itself great, it accomplishes greatness.
