The Great Way Flows Everywhere

大道泛兮,其可左右。万物恃之而生而不辞,功成不名有。衣养万物而不为主,常无欲,可名于小;万物归焉而不为主,可名为大。
以其终不自为大,故能成其大。
The Great Way spreads widely, flowing freely to the left and to the right. All things depend on it for life, and it turns away no one. When its work is accomplished, it claims no fame. It clothes and nourishes all things yet does not rule over them. Free from desire, it may be called small — yet all things return to it and it does not rule them, so it may be called great. Because it never strives to be great, only then can it achieve true greatness.

Tentang apa bab ini?

The Great Way pours itself out everywhere, embracing all things without preference. It gives life to everything yet claims nothing. It sustains all without ruling over them. Having no desires, it seems small — yet because all things return to it and it never grasps for greatness, only then does it become truly great.

Napata ri aku?

There is deep comfort in knowing the Way does not force itself upon anything. It does not compete for glory. And yet it is the source of all life. I am learning that my own attempts to be great — to be seen, to dominate, to possess — are what make me small. True influence comes from quietly giving, not grasping.

Aka' naiyya' naé mua?

Today I will let go of one desire to control an outcome. I will do my work quietly, without seeking recognition. I will nourish something — a relationship, a task, a stranger — without expecting anything in return. In smallness, I will find greatness.
